2012 is the year of the London Olympic and Paralympic games. It is also the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee year. And Venus will pass in front of the sun (6th June). The experts have decided that the world is not going to end as a result of this solar happening, thankfully!

We can expect huge numbers of visitors to the UK in 2012 and what will they be looking for? The answer, it seems to us, is The Best Of British.

So we have chosen the “Best of British” as our theme for 2012. We know that local schools have been talking about what makes Britain British. Why people come here, and why we stay. We have many fine traditions in which we have great pride and this pride can be demonstrated in many hundreds of ways – so put on your thinking caps and plan a really great event.

Crowthorne Christmas Shopping Event
Thank you to everyone who visited our gazebo in front of the library at the Crowthorne late night shopping on Friday. We are delighted to announce that the winners of the raffle prizes from that evening are:
- F Harris of Pinewood Ave
- M Cooper c/o Heatherway
- S Thompson of Blakes Close
Our thanks to everyone who bought tickets. Our Carnival Fundraising has got off to a good start with £55.50.

Involving the wider community
We would really like to hear from any groups or organisations that have not yet been involved in the carnival, even if you are only slightly interested in being involved. Get in touch with us and, if we can help, we will.
